Here, I am five years old practicing tennis at The Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, FL. I first picked up a tennis racquet at age four, and I still play and teach tennis to this day. When I was a USTA junior, I practiced two to three hours a day during the school year and three to seven hours during the summers and holiday breaks.
Practicing the piano at home at age five. Each day, I typically practiced twenty minutes to an hour. I received many Superior ratings (the highest rating from the FFMC) for my solos and concertos each year. Therefore, I competed at the State competitions in Jacksonville, FL for many years.
While attending Cornell University, I competed in singles and doubles for the Women's Varsity Tennis Team. We took this photo after we won at a tournament at UPenn (the Ivy League in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). In this photo, I am standing second from the right.
In addition to tennis, I cross-trained with gymnastics from ages 5-12. I went up to Level 5 and placed in almost every National tournament. Once I started getting more serious with tennis and competing in higher-level USTA tournaments, I solely focused on tennis.
Doing gymnastics helped me strengthen many of my skills, such as strength, balance, flexibility, and a strong mindset. Years later, I am still able to do many of the moves I used to do at age twelve. Here, I am goofing off by the pool.
In 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. It was a great day I enjoyed celebrating with my classmates, friends, and family.
While practicing at Rick Macci's Tennis Academy (Boca Raton, FL), I was featured in an episode for the Tennis Channel. I made instructional videos of how to properly and effectively hit forehands.
As a sophomore at Cornell University, I won the Billie Jean King Invitational tournament at the U.S. Open Courts, beating players from Princeton University and Dartmouth College, among others.
For Cornell University's 150th Anniversary Yearbook, I was featured hitting a volley during a tournament, captured by one of our photographers.
